I have the talkforever mobile service. I went to a starbucks t-mo hotspot today, and i could see and connect to the network, but never had a full connection. I mean, the wifi network named showed up on my phone (next to the standard tmo-cell network name), but the wifi symbol never lit up. it seems as though it wanted me to login to the tmo network with a username/pwd. that seemed odd. so i couldnt get UMA there either.

I went next door to ATT and was able to connect and get UMA no prob.

Still no luck at the house.

Also my parents in Montgomery, AL are having UMA problems. They recently got the @home service (the phone/voip router) and it's doing ok, even though their curves have uma problems.
