Oh my god... PLEASE READ THE THREAD. You can have years worth of email on your BlackBerry if you want to. We have users with 4000-5000 messages on their BlackBerry at all times.

The topic in discussion is about a newly activated device.
Once the device is active and mail starts being delivered to it, it will stay on the device forever if you want it to.

Message pre-population is only 14 days of historical messages.
There's also a remote search facility on the BlackBerry which will allow you to view messages in your inbox which are not on the handheld, should you need to.
