Verizon 7130e -
10-06-2005, 03:30 PM
I think thats what the most recent rumors are saying what it will be called....
Anyway, I work for a pretty large public accounting firm with offices in just about every medium to big city in the country, so we have a huge blackberry subscriber base and good relations with all of the major carriers.
I currently have a standard Verizon phone with another year of my contract left, but I was looking to switch to Cingular for the 7100g. (I want a 7100 series) We have agreements with just about all of the carriers that let us cancel service without penalty, so I was put in touch with our National Account reps for VZW to obtain information about getting out of my contract. I'm assuming that the person I've been contacting is somewhat "high up" based on the sheer size of our relationship with VZW.
Anyway, while asking her questions, I indicated I was leaving because I have an immediate need for a 7100 blackberry and that I would probably switch back when they come out with it. I asked her if she had info and her words were "The new Blackberry should be available in late October - early November."
What do you guys think? I think its great news if its true, but how true do you think it is? We've seen the 7100i stuff for Sprint/Nextel and thats given us some solid evidence that its coming out soon, but on the Verizon side we haven't seen anything like that, other than a few accounts of people who say they've seen it. But I haven't seen any of the FCC docs, or something more concrete....
Do you think it will come out that soon? What do you think I should do? Should I switch to Cingular and then switch back if it does come out? (we have no contracts with cingular....can leave whenever). The 7100g costs $99 out of my own pocket, so I'd prefer not to pay that for just one month, and then pay more for the Verizon one when it comes out. How much do you think I could recoup if I tried to sell the 7100g after a month?
Any advice is greatly appreciated!
