To be honest, with these kind of sales, it's more likely that there are fraudulent bidders rather than buddy bidders or anything like that. Whenever I have listed a new or unreleased handset I have had all kinds of elevated fraudulent or pure vexatious bids by unsuitable bidders trying to derail the process or scammers from Eastern Europe, Indonesia and Nigeria who have been told they can't bid but will bid whatever as they have no intention of paying and so are only interested in forcing a sale to them or a relisting. I'd rather take less cash but more certain payment, than sacrifice payment certainty for a too good to be true offer.

If people are willing to part with that much cash for an unreleased handset that might get decommissioned and has no support or warranty (and I am often someone who gets test handsets), then that's their lookout, provided they know exactly what they're getting into (which they should - the auction's pretty clear). I say good luck to Fr0zen - I hope you get a good price for it!

There is another Javelin on eBay for $700 at the moment, which also looks genuine, but it's not at all clear that this isn't a "property of RIM" handset as there are no pictures of the back or any details. I strongly suspect this handset will get its PIN blocked by RIM.
