You bought your BB used, and the previous user has not removed the PIN of that BB from his account. Call and ask them to do so, or call your carrier yourself and explain you bought the BB used, and would like to have the PIN removed from the previous account. They should and normally will if you ask nicely... they don't have to.
I got my 8310 from AT&T after my 8300 broke. But it didn't come refurb, it came with a box and a battery, charger, headphones. I think I got a new phone. I guess I should call them up either way.

While I'm here, bit of a noob ? What exactly is this BIS account? What's it going to do? All I know now is it will eliminate the double email thing when using Gmail.
