No, he's simply saying that reliable 2G coverage is more important than spotty 3G coverage.
You may have excellent 3G coverage, but a majority of us do not. After seeing what 3G coverage is like here in the states compared to Europe, I will stick with good 'ol reliable EDGE any day.
