I have seen the "SIM Card Rejected" at the top of my phone three times now. It goes away when I do a battery pull... but what a PITA!
So I called Verizon... they understand that this is a software bug and assure me that the SIM Card is fine... and that for now I should go to <manage connections> <mobile network options> and under Network Technology make sure that 1XEV is chosen rather than Global...
This of course will have to be changed back when I go out of NA.
No problem with the error message since doing this... keeping my fingers crossed...
