No to rate music tracks locally. I like to download lots of free released tracks from the music blogs, label websites, etc. throw them all on my media device and listen (or winamp/amarok). when I used to have an ipod I could use the star rating system to note which tracks I enjoyed and which I didn't. now I use the notepad on the blackberry to write down the name of tracks/artists I like, but if I could do something similar directly in the media player that would be a whole lot easier.

in theory it could also be used in a smart shuffling algorithm.
