only thing I have aftermarket is Yak-On. Yak-On works flawlessly, best IM client I have ever used. VeriChat is the worst thing I have tried, it NEVER reconnects, and I used it on Treo 650 and still get the same problem if I lose service it says to someone who ims me System COnnectivity error: the message __ was not received by the user etc.. yak-on is the way to go!
