After breaking my head with RIM support for 2 weeks, I figured out the solution here in the forums. So, thanks to you guys and here's a consolidated post for everyone's reference.

BES version: 4.1.6
LCS version: LCS 2005 without SP1
CWA : Not implemented.

1. If you dont have a CWA, The only option available is to install BES(and all subsequent SPs) with the Lcs + Windows Messenger Option enabled. Uses TCP/TLS.

2. Lcs + OC ONLY works when you have a CWA installed and you can point the Blackberry Collaboration service to it. Uses Http/Https.

Also note, the only Lcs client( that can be used with Point 1 above is the one that comes with your BES installers in the IM folder. Do not try and download it off the Internet or anywhere else. This is the reason for the 2 weeks it took to resolve our issue, nobody(including RIM) knew what client will work.

Make sure you have Microsoft Messaging Queues(MSMQ) service installed cos the BBIM Connector service will not start without it.
