I'm not saying you are doing something wrong with your BB, but maybe you should step back and take a look at it.
As for the broken screen, how was it shipped? Was the box crushed? it may not have been RIM's fault but that of the shipping company and/or poor packaging on your part.

I am not sure. My shipment to the forwarding center was fine. Then it goes in a bigger box to Canada. It was not mentioned on the tech report when they didnt repair it. Nor was the moisture indicator. The tech broke it I am sure. It was missing for 3 weeks before they even started. There is no telling. RIM should have walked over to the refurbished bin and replaced the phone. Its called customer service. Unfortunately they have the upper hand and it has driven me to this. Remember Lily Tomlin? We are the phone company: We dont care, we dont have to. But I have not gone to iphone because I remember AT&T too.
Why so many 8830s? That was the first one of mine to stop charging. The second one is working fine (1 year ish). They are generally pretty tough except the USB. I bought a cradle for the new one. I also bought insurance.
