agr, I want to say thank you, thank you, thank you! I attempted to upgrade the OS on a 7100t today - only to have the back up fail, the phone lock and go black with only that annoying red light.

When I would try to reconnect, it didn't seem to be connected to the Desktop software, although I could hear the USB connect sound. I searched the forums for everything I could think of. Reset, Dead BB, etc. Found your message and tried it again (even though it *said* Disconnected) and got the application loader to recognize to restore the software and my BB lives again.
