I imagine that opening the BB up would void any kind of warranty...so why would someone do this and risk not being able to return it when they could just return it?

BTW....My 8700 died today and has not come back up....it's been a little more than an hour of spinning hourglass. Reboots, battery pulling...nothing is helping..on the line with Cingular now...hopefully getting a new unit.
