I have had a blackberry and a mac for about a year now, and my blackberry recently coped out on me and I had to replace it- since Verizon can only update my contacts to my new bb (covered under warranty, thankfully) but I would have lost my calendar if I hadn't JUST put google syn on my phone but I lost everything in my memo pad (I kept a lot of notes there), password keeper, applications, etc.
Now I'm weary about putting anything JUST on my blackberry- as it doesn't sync with my mac, it is the sole location / source of anything that I put on there. I'm starting law school soon and just downloaded studentdocket hoping that that helps me keep track of assignments- but now I'm all worried about my BB breaking and not having another source of that information.

I think if Verizon had an iPhone, I'd switch hands down. Only because it would make my life and syncing sooo much easier!
