pressing asterisk and then send is one way to get out of lock mode; another way is just pressing the lock button, the one located at the top of the BB, and that's only 1 button. At least for me, that button tends to get pressed easily in my pockets. Not always, but it does.

That's interesting. The Mute button (I assume that's what you're referring to by the lock on top of the BB) does not take my BB out of key lock mode--it only takes it our of standby mode. My only way out of lock is * + Send.
