I know there are very similar questions already about this subject, but there doesnt seem to be any which answer my question specifically.

I have recently bought a blackberry 8900 on O2. With the contract, I have got unlimited data and emails etc, however I'm going traveling (Asia and Australia, not EU) and am aware that the free data only applies to the UK. Because a lot of the hotels and hostels I will be staying in have free wi-fi, I was hoping to take advantage of this. In other threads I know whats been mentioned before is to turn off the "Data services" in the mobile network options to stop data being used, and then to simply turn on the wi-fi, however when I turn the data services to off, then the wi-fi goes to grey straight away.

Has anybody else had this problem, and knows how to fix it?
