Thumbs down Great Idea, Not So Great Product, Poor Customer Service - 12-21-2005, 04:53 PM

I purchased the Skin Tight back in October. I had just gotten a warranty replacement of my 7100t and kept the protective plastic on the BB while I waited for my Skin Tight to arrive. I planned on keeping my screen in perfect condition for the life of the device. When the Skin Tight arrived, I removed the protective plastic from the BB and put it in its new home. Within a day (of regular use) I began to notice what I thought was moisture\cloudiness between the protective screen and the BB screen. A day later I took the case off to attempt to clean the smudge. To my surprise, the Skin Tight screen "protector" was scratching my flawless screen and the protector itself!!!

I immediately contacted Speck Products customer support via email and explained my dis-satisfaction and asked that they remedy the situation. In the meantime, I removed the protective lens and continued to use the skin tight with the holster minus the protective lens.

One month passed and I still had not heard back form Speck. I resubmitted the email copying any "@speckproducts.com" address I could think of (info, sales, support) asking if anyone was going to address my issue. Three days later, I received and email from someone in their shipping department saying they would send me a replacement screen (for their product I assumed). My response was that I didn't want another protective lens, but wanted an answer to the fact that my blackberry screen was damaged.

I later found Amy's email address from this thread and sent her my issue. She responded a few days later with "Thank you for your patience. We have received your email. We are doing everything we can to assist you ASAP. " Two days after that I received an email from rosie@speck saying "Thank you for your patience. We have received your email. We are doing everything we can to assist you ASAP. ".... Interesting, same exact response. That was 11/23/05. I have not heard from them since.

I have not been using the product since October and now just lock my BB and carry it in my pocket. Seems to be the best solution.

It's really a shame that they have come out with such a good concept but fail on the support side.

I see that the 7105t has a bit of a recessed screen. I would imagine the Skin Tight might work well with that.

Hope this info helps some of you were are considering the Skin Tight for the 7100t.
