Question 7100t problem - works with one blackberry not the other - 12-21-2005, 11:07 PM

I think I have a unique problem...any help would be appreciated. I have been working with two 7100t's and a laptop running XP. I originally setup the laptop to use my uncle's BB. I followed all of the instructions and surprisingly after a little tweaking it worked great! My uncle went home on friday happy.

Sometime on Friday there was a windows auto update completed while the BB was connected. After that he was no longer able to connect. I have uninstalled and reinstalled and checked and rechecked all of the settings, adding the DNS settings and everything and I am still getting a 718 error with his BB. I am able to query the modem as expected.

The strange thing is that if I plug in my BB to the laptop with the same settings it works beautifully. What could be different between the two BBs to cause a 718 error? Doesn't make sense. I looked at the settings in the two BBs and I can't see anything different. I went down the entire list of settings and they are all set the same (at least the things I think would be significant, firewall, APN settings, etc.) The only thing I noticed was one service book on mine that isn't on his (MSS Config (WAP)). I don't think this is the problem but I'm kind of at a loss. The other strange thing is that my uncle's BB worked at one point and then for some reason stopped! Weird.
