Unhappy Bold on Rogers -> MTN

I'm a fairly new bb user, and have recently unlocked my Bold in order to use it in South Africa. Once on Rogers, I'm now on MTN. However, since switching over sim cards, I've encountered problems -- while I'm able to surf the net, send texts, make calls, I'm unable to use bbm and googletalk AND my gmail account won't update directly to my phone.
What makes this even more frustrating for me, is that neither googletalk nor email-mobile updating works, even when I have a steady wifi connection.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
