Looked around the forum to see if anything is similar, but couldnt locate the same exact problem.
1. Upgrading my OS: I bought my bold from Rogers and started using immediately under the AT&T. Im on Mac OS, and everytime upgrading the OS has been a nightmare. Finding a PC, manually downloading the Rogers upgrade and manually installing it on the BB. Cuz the OTA check that comes with the BB (I'm assuming) checks with the network assuming it's a Rogers network, but is actually checking the AT&T and hence the AT&T server gives it a response of NO new upgrades. (I'M guessing). Now that we have the Mac desktop manager, it's much easier.
Q: will deleting the vendor.xml solve the problem of OTA upgrades via the AT&T network on a Rogers phone? ( I will never use it on Rogers network).
Q: if not, will manually upgrading the BB using an AT&T OS upgrade ruin anything on the BB? (there are diff OS upgrades on diff networks apparently).
Q: or am I better off using Rogers upgrades than AT&T upgrades? (cuz we all know how AT&T suck :P)
2. My BB has been buggy lately, and i wanna clean it up. I wanna wipe EVERYTHING and restore (1) the latest OS i have (2) the apps i've had installed before (3) personal info [contacts, calendar etc]:
Q: most of forums talk about JL_commander on PC, is there a Mac version?
Q: whats the best way to do it under Mac OS?
Q: will formatting the device and restoring all the crap bring back the bugs? I mean does backing up the BB backs up EVERYTHING? or essential software and data files. Because if it backs up EVERYTHING it might backup/copy the bugs too
Really appreciate some input
