If your main interest is backing up the phone, you can do so one of two ways (or use both of them for added security). 1st, you can simply use BB Desktop Manager and synch with Outlook or other. 2nd, you can use DTM and make a backup of your blackberry. Then if you loose the phone, you have the means to restore the info to a new one. This won't backup the photos or other items stored on the media card -- you will need to do that separately.

Not sure how backing up info to the memory card would do much good if you lost the phone....wouldn't the memory card be in the phone and lost at the same time?
