I agree. My memory card is in the blackberry at all times. I guess that is the case for most everyone. If I lose the blackberry, I lose the card.

And I wouldn't see the point of backing up to a different card that is carried separate from the blackberry. For one, how would you restore to the new blackberry if all you have is the new blackberry and the card? Backing up to a computer is the smart thing to do. If you travel with a laptop or netbook, back up to that, too.
