Perhaps one thing that is going on is those data intensive app are always running in the background. You should make sure you close each app rather than just exit out.

Given the fact that the company is curious abut your usage, that might be an indication that you need to delete all the personal stuff on their device that they pay for and get another device for yourself and those personal apps (facebook, flycast, ubertwitter, etc) and your personal email.

They could also be wondering why are you spending so much time using the BB when you should/could be working.
