Ok. I still think it could be a compatibility issue with the phone and router. Like I mentioned before it's not that the BB is using n, it's that routers with n compatibility caused problems for the 8320.
I do not know if later BB models or later OS versions had this issue, but it seems to be one of the few remaining possibilities in your case.
