A third party product, like SilverDust, is really the only option that will give you full access to your SharePoint content (i.e workflow support, document checkin/out)
Hmmm we have Sharepoint available through our BES network, setting HTTP authentication as above but also forcing kerboros. What does SilverDust do differently to your normal broswer on Sharepoint?

I see it does more native integration but AD support, Calender and Email can all be done via BES. The lists and other items can be viewed via the standard browser view.
