Default Unable to install ANY application?

So I just received my Blackberry Bold 9000, and am a total newbie when it comes to blackberries in general. I'm extremely confused because it seems like I can't install any application to this phone. Ive tried installing Facebook for Blackberry and AIM for Blackberry to my Bold, but its no use because when I receive the email with the download link, the hyperlink is unactive (not in blue) and thus my Bold does not recognize it as a link.

What are some ways to fix this? Why is it that when I receive emails with links I'm unable to just click on them and go? The link shows up as just text: "Download from your BlackBerry smartphone." and don't let me proceed to download the app.

I also tried using the "DOWNLOAD THOUGH DESKTOP COMPUTER" method to install apps, and when I plug in my Bold it says "UNSUPPORTED DEVICE"
