You pretty much have it. I think the one step that I did not explictly spell out anywhere is to make sure and go through the configuration to reset the Outlook folder back to the default folder after you edit and before the final one-way sync.

As far as conflicts, doesn't really matter. I set it up to prompt me though so I can choose each time.

It sounds like a lot of work but once you get it all set up, should be easy thereafter.

Maybe I should write this up and post it somewhere for reference in the future. I think a lot of people have issues with getting BB contacts and Outlook properly synced because, like you, they don't understand how it really works. And don't find out they understand wrong until it's too late. You were lucky your friend had the backup -- many people don't and no backup, no recovery.
