From base information assurance division:

"The root cause of the outage stemmed from a tree out by the ******** gate falling onto an electrical cable which in turn fell onto communication cable and burned through it in the process. Verizon estimates that the cables should be repaired and operational within five hours. We will continue to provide update as we receive them. Thank you for your patience."
