But FWIW, as water damage is typically excluded from insurance, voids warranty, and so forth, I've believed the reason is the damage is usually so widespread that it isn't simple or inexpensive to correct and you are instead looking at essentially replacing the device anyway. ..... That's why I wrote what I wrote. Be ready to hear the worst, and be suspicious if the repair shop doesn't mention water damage as a possibility and says they will fix it cheap.
