Are you a T-Mobile Customer? If you are they will help you and if they can't, they will send you to RIM in Canada. I had the same problem and RIM tech walked me though for almost 2 hours.
Have you tried a web update through Blackberry's website? that sometime will help if you can get your phone to connect.

using your computerxxx8217;s Internet browser. Hopefully that will connect you to the update service and you can begin with at least the basic OS for your phone...
