Default Recording a call with my 7520

Here's one I've not seen talked about before...

I'm a radio guy and I regularly record telephone conversations in my studio using a professional telephone hybrid. However, I'd like to do the same thing in my home studio. Here's what I'm thinking...

The audio jack on my 7520 is a 2 way line: 1 input, 1 output (mic & speaker). I could create a cable that splits the signal and run the output (speaker) to my studio control board, then run a monitor line (carrying the studio mic output) from the board back to the input of the 7520 (so the person on the phone will hear me talking from my mic).

Now, here's where my question comes in...

I can't imagine the input line (mic) of the 7520 can handle the output level of my control board...can it? If I tried it, will I blow that circutry to kingdom come?

Do you know of a safe way I can record a conversation with this phone?

Thanks!
