A desktop manager is not necessarily required to transfer pictures.

Generally Windows (I've used both Windows 7 and Windows Vista) will recognize your Blackberry (and if applicable media card) as assign it drive letters. This will allow you to simply cut or cut & paste the photos you want to your blackberry, the same way you would copy/cut & paste from folder to folder.
