I have a BB9790 with Orange on a business contract through the company I work for. As it's a business contract we get very few text messages, so I have set up Yahoo messenger to keep in touch with friends (can't use BBM as friends have other handsets).

My query is - when connected to a WiFi network, will Yahoo messenger still be routed through a Blackberry server, and so still count towards my data usage?

When not connected via WiFi, it presumably uses the normal data connection, so will count towards my allowance, but as it's only text I can't imagine it will add up to very much?

I'm not sure if we have BES or BIS or anything like that, and I've not managed to find that out yet.
