| | Cant access the internet on PC via my 9810T

I have installed the Blackberry desktop software 220.127.116.11 on my computer running WinXP. I have the internet settings of my carrier configured on my 9810T and the browser proxy setting on my PC configured to the same.
However, when I connect my phone to PC via usb and enable mobile internet from the BB desktop manager, it does not browse. Its sends out packets but hardly recieves any.
On exactly the same settings, a BBCurve 9300 browses; though another BBCurve 9300 with a newer OS does not browse.
I'm thinking its an OS issue but I would appreciate any expert help I can get.
The OS of my 9810T is 18.104.22.1685
