Default Desktop software not connecting to Playbook

I am having trouble with the desktop software and my tablet.
The BB software runs but is not accessing the tablet.
When I connect the tablet to the USB port, I can hear that sound which means a connection is established. I even tried a couple of other
ports and am finding the same problem.
