Call ATT back and ask for a tier2 support person. If the person who answers the phone cannot understand then ask for a manager.
The call centers are staffed with people who may not have all the details to solve the issue. The other option is to go to a device support center if one is in your area. DO NOT go to any vendor store, they cannot deal with the issue.
