| | Desktop Manager Installs then "Rolls Back"

I've been trying to re-install BB desktop manager (710_b042_multilanguage.exe) on my PC, but every time I run the executable file to install the software, the installation gets to the final stage, then encounters an error and if I click OK on the error message, the Install shield "rolls back" and uninstalls the software!
The error statement says that some resources used by the desktop manager are already in use, and that I should delete the desktop manager that is currently installed, and then re-install the software.
The odd thing is that if I disregard the error message and leave the error message open, I can open the program, run it, and use it to back up / sync my blackberries - but as soon as I click on the error message it uninstalls itself.
I have downloaded the EXE file repeatedly from the BB site, so I don't think that the installation file is corrupted.
Has anyone encountered anything similar? Any thoughts on how to get BB Desktop manager installed on my machine?
