I've been digging around the site and I haven't found anything conclusive, so, if there's a FAQ please link it, if not, maybe a small FAQ might be worthwhile...

Anyway, I've been looking at getting myself a phone, probably second hand, and I would really like a keyboard and an OS. My primary use is SMS and email (via web interface) and web browsing. I'm looking at the 7290 or maybe 7100, as they have Bluetooth and can run OS4.0. For the above I currently use a Motorola Accompli 009, but it's getting a tad dated, and I end up needing another phone since voice is difficult on the 009.

So, what (GSM) Blackberry's, if not all, work without a Blackberry service, can it be turned off (the wireless service)? From what I can tell in the manual, I can sync all my Blackberry stuff through my PC but can I sync emails, address book and calendar, is this so?

Anyone have any recommendations?
