@ outfocus, here's the instructions (although Vodafone has yet to post the software on their page, so you won't be able to complete the steps just yet).

- Install Desktop Software 4.1 onto your PC - this should be included with your handheld. If not, it can be found either on Vodafone (Australia)'s page (which its not posted there yet; see next step for link) or directly from RIM (select from the drop-down):

Do not mark the option to open Desktop Manager when finalizing the install.

- Go to C:\Program Files\Common Files\Research In Motion\AppLoader and delete or rename Vendor.xml

- Go to C:\Program Files\Common Files\Research In Motion\Shared\Loader Files\8700-v4.1.0.284_P2.0.0.120 and rename BlackBerry.alx to BlackBerry.alx.old

- Unzip the file (BlackBerry.zip containing BlackBerry.alx) linked below to C:\Program Files\Common Files\Research In Motion\Shared\Loader Files\8700-v4.1.0.284_P2.0.0.120 - this file can be found here:

- Connect your handheld to your PC via USB and open Desktop Software 4.1 and it should prompt you to upgrade the Core Components. If it does not prompt (which it likely won't but it might), open Application Loader and click Next - you will notice 'Upgrade' listed next to the Core Components - click Next and backup if you wish to do so (probably a good idea).

I can't be 100% sure on the BlackBerry.alx file, as I do not have their software available to download and look at. In the past, the ALX file from one vendor to the next for the same version software has been the same (although the code could vary slightly - just up to the carrier QA process), so the above should work with no issues.

P.S. - As mentioned, depending on carrier changes in the QA process, the same version number code/OS could be the exact same from one carrier to the other. So, as a test, you may want to simply install the Bharti software, delete the Vendor.xml file, and then open Desktop Manager. If it prompts you to upgrade the handheld, then just cancel it and uninstall the Handheld Software. However, if it does not, then I don't see any reason why you shouldn't move forward.
