There is an entirely new handheld called the 8707/uElectron that will be released here shortly in European markets that will be UMTS-compatible (not sure on HSDPA). This leads me to believe that the base-8700 series handheld will not have a firmware/software update to unlock UMTS/HSDPA compatibility and will remain EDGE-compatible only. Considering they already have 8700 series handhelds in the UK, France, Germany, and various other European markets, I'd think there was a strong possibility that my 'assumptions' are correct.
In the beginning the Universe was created. This has made a lot of people very angry and is widely regarded as a bad move.
