The one feature I miss about the old school blackberries, (even though technically you were not supposed to do it), was that when you were on the plane, you could still send and receive messages, if you flew over an area where the cell coverage would reach up that high. On long flights it was nice to be able get messages out that you needed to.

While I know the commercial airlines technically prohibit their use, our corporate aircraft flight crews allowed us to use the BB's in flight.

Sadly, the new devices won't even catch a hint of a signal after you get a few 1000 feet off the ground.
