Hands on review by lgreenberg

Price as reviewed: $9.95

One of my most favorites games for the Palm OS and a mainstay on every Palm device I’ve owned is the game Vexed. I was therefore thrilled when I saw that Mobigloo had released a new game called “Next” for the Blackberry platform and that it’s quite similar to Vexed.

The developer nicely offered to send me a copy of the game to review.

The game opens to the last level you were working on.

The object of the game is to move the pieces in the right sequence so that you match either 2 or 3 pieces together. Doing so causes the pieces to disappear. Once you’ve removed all the pieces in a level you move to the next level.

You use the track wheel to select the piece you want to move.

The game uses a cool arrow feature to allow you to quickly move any piece to any spot you select.

At the bottom of the game there are some additional features.

Restart – Restarts the current level.

You are asked to confirm you want to restart the level.

Undo – Undoes your last move.

Previous – Brings you back to the level you were on last.

Next - Brings you to the next level up.

Note: You can only go to a level you’ve completed.

Help – Displays help information.

Once you’ve cleared all the pieces in the level you’re working on you’re brought to the next level.

Here I’m about to clear level 5.

And then I’m brought to level 6.

The game consists of 64 levels.

The game can be downloaded from the Mobigloo web site and purchased for $9.95. There is a limited trial version available to download as well.

There is no OTA download. The game must be installed using the Desktop Manager.

Also the game is formatted for the 72xx series screen and does not take up all of the 8700’s screen. The developer has told me that they are working on a version which will utilize the entire screen.

If you’re looking for a good puzzle game, one that’ll keep you busy, this is the one for you.

Pros: 64 total levels, nice user interface.
Cons: Doesn’t use all of 8700’s screen, no OTA download.
