Default Why you can't edit the original message

I believe I read somewhere here that when you "Reply" to a BB message, the original message is not actually re-sent with your reply. Instead, only your new comments are sent to the server (BES at least) and then the server re-assembles your comments with the original message. In this way, what actually gets transmitted from your handheld is smaller in size and thus quicker. If this is the case, that would explain why you cannot edit the original message, or put comments within the original text.

This doesn't help your situation, but at least it might explain why.
