I am a bit confused by this conversation. You folks are saying that we don't have 3G in North America. However, don't Verizon and Sprint have EV-DO networks, and aren't those 3G?

A related question - is the 8700g natively EV-DO compatible? I have T-Mobile service, and am currently on EDGE, but I have been looking into their future plans and it appears they are looking at deploying a high speed wireless like Verizon and Cingular (which they call 3G) by the end of 2006 or early 2007. So if they do that, will I be able to get it on my 8700g or will I need a new phone for that?
