Nextel told me to download 4.1 blackberry desktop and the servicepack for blackberry and it automatically has the modem in it. Of course they did say you have to configure your browser and messenger proxies. Modem service is only for dial up use, so you'd use phone minutes and need a dial up provider as well.

Just go to blackberry.com, hit personal life at bottom, then software and desktop or internet solutions icon should take you right to it.

I just went to internet options, connections, dial up and set proxies to localhost and 3128 I think. I did not try it out, because I wasnt going to waste money on dial up or my phone minutes when I have data package on my phone.

Nextel has a portable modem for car, home, office for 249.00 and plans starting at 50.00 (am sure thats very limited) but I will try that. Sprint is with Nextel, but their wireless pc card would require me to go through another credit check, pay 99.00 for the pccard and then pay like 80.00 to get an unlimited service.

I am looking to replace my cable internet as they are being taken over by AOL Time Warner which means all prices will rise and they might restrict freedoms we have now on cable (my opinion) so I am not dealing with that, lol

I wish they would make an anywhere unlimited data plan for the laptop costing about 50.00 a month?
