I called back at 5:30 this evening to see whether I could pick up a Pearl at my local TMO store. I was told I could, but I've have to pay an additional $50 up front and get a $50 rebate. Then the rep. said that the "backorder" status of the phone shouldn't effect orders already in the system, only those purchased after the backorder date. Okay, I'll wait...

A few minutes ago, I checked this thread and saw that people who have been "squeaky wheels" were suddenly seeing that their phones had shipped. I went to the UPS site and, sure enough, mine shipped from Horsham, PA at 6:10 tonight with a scheduled arrival date of 9/21.

Sure glad I'm one of the squeaky wheels!
