As mentioned before, the 8100 is RIM's first crack at a multimedia business device....like a Treo but without the crashes. The 8700's do have the ability to play certain types of mp3's but there is not a media player per say. You can only have mp3's as ringtones and whatnot.
What i'm trying to say is, RIM will probably get better media software fixes as time goes on; and if the 8100 really catches on. Treo has had the market on multimedia devices for so long, it may be an uphill battle for RIM.
