Default Cases for the 87O0g - 11-02-2006, 02:27 AM

Although I read the reviews posted in the forums for these cases, I somehow missed important info related to how these cases perform on an 8700g. I will keep posting my ongoing experience trying to find a good case for my 8700g. I am looking for a case similar to the two below, but one that actually works. If you know of one, please PM me.

1) SENA flip case. I like the looks and feel of the leather, but the magnets which hold the flap down are way too weak to work properly. Also, when the case is in a bag the flap has a tendency to migrate sideways exposing the Blackberry. It also did not come with a belt clip. On the bright side, although it is advertised as fitting many 8700 models it fits my 8700g perfectly. Without a clip or working magnetic closure, however, this case is not worth much. I may try to find some stronger magnets to swap in.

2) Krusell Handit Leather Flip Case. Although this case is advertised as fitting many 8700 models it does not fit the 8700g. The box it came in said it is for the 8700 r/c. I have heard that the 8700g fits cases differently then the 8700c but haven't been able to confirm that yet. Basically when the BB is seated all the way down in the case touching the bottom leather flap, the upper slits for the speaker, trackwheel, and buttons on both sides do not ride high enough to match up. The case has nice leather and I like the snap closure, it prevents the flap from migrating sideways when stored in a bag. Bottom line: it is worthless the way it fits. The speaker is covered by leather and the trackwheel and buttons are partially covered by the case. Hopefully they'll let me return it and stop saying it fits the 8700g.
