If you go through your provider's Browser, then it will be private. IM traffic, etc will go through your MDS, unless you can specify otherwise (this is why your IM started working). Your BWC email account and any pop email accounts are also kept from the BES logs.

With all of that said, at the default level of logging, the BES logs do not contain the actual text of IMs or emails. View it as a simple redirector. I am not sure on the next step up in logging, as I haven't really moved mine up that high (its at the next to highest level by default).

However, a BES administrator can limit your ability to have BWC access, pop email access, etc. Keep in mind that although you purchased your own BlackBerry handheld, the minute you are added the BES server, you have given up your rights to do what you want with that. This is assuming that your company has some sort of security policy concerning devices in the environment. They can push down policy to your handheld that will take away a lot of rights and force you through the BES (and yes, this is a security measure - not someone being a meanie).
In the beginning the Universe was created. This has made a lot of people very angry and is widely regarded as a bad move.
