A little background: I've been wanting a EVDO non-camera phone since EVDO was being originally deployed by Sprint. I have a plan that's no longer offered that gives me 1xRTT data & unlimited TXT included within the plan. I can also add-a-phone for $0/mn.
I just recently replaced my Sprint Treo 650 (w/camera) with two devices, primary device is a Sanyo SCP-4930 (I used to have a SCP-4700 & SCP-4900 long ago, great phones!) which I transfered my service to and then I added a line for $0/mn with a 8703e, with just data for $40/mn (25% corp discount to boot).
I went to the closest Sprint store (Downtown Bellevue, WA) and I was lucky enough to have a sales guy that was on the ball on with my plan and with the data services. By the time I left the store my 8703e was activated, and I had already configured my personal email account for it. I've since configured two more email accounts with different settings for each and spent an entire work day tethered at work (I work ~3AM-2PM) and I'm incredibly happy with the EVDO and the 8703e as a whole. I was able to make the BB freeze up once or twice w/RSS Feed Reader, but it's not sluggish or randomly reboots like my Treo does, and RIM's web browser is MUCH better than Treo's Blazer! I'm diggin' BBToday, and the ALT+NMLL code to show how good your signal actually is.
I haven't had the "white screen" folks are talking about, but if I do, I know where to look!
Since the BB is not my phone, and just data only I don't plan on buying an additional battery (when it tethered it charges the battery, I LOVE THAT!) but I am looking for some sort of case that's like Pacific Rim Technologies Treo case (metal case with the keys exposed and a piece of hard plastic of the display).
You guys have been a lot of help and fun when finding out new info on my new BB!
